What Remains Important

Tomorrow is my birthday. Instead of being younger, I will be now a young 58. Oh my gosh! When I see this in print, it scares me. I have lived over half of my life. I actually saw a commercial yesterday that talked about a year that I wouldn’t be here to celebrate. What have I done with my life? Shall I go by priority, stupidity, happy times? I think that I will start with things people may say after my passing. She has three wonderful children. They have grown up to be respectable adults. They treat their spouses fair, and they adore their kids. I have been married twice. One ended because of my being messed up with the meetings of my natural mother. It led to doors being opened for my  husband, and  he slipped away from me. The second marriage was rebound? Scared of being on my own? Yes, this is it. Number two, scared of being on my own. There was many controlling issues in that marriage. It took me many years with the help of my children, and God to break that tie. So we can put a little stupidity in that mix and some out of mind in the other part. I had a business that I owned. An antique store. I refurnished furniture for clients. I loved that.It meant a lot to me. After the divorce I had no building to continue my work, but the antiques are still in my blood today.  That was something people will talk about after I am gone. I am a child of God. This was a very important accomplishment in my life. No one will question this after I am gone, as they already know the answer of where I will go next. I take care of my brother. To me this is a huge accomplishment. So many ask me when I will give it up. All I can say, is the good Lord will let me know

Now for tomorrow, my birthday, I want you, the reader, to tell me what you think I could do to celebrate this birthday. We are going to dream big, but keep it real. What can a 58-year-old, single woman do that will be remembered by others after I am gone? Make sure to leave your comments. I am going to be reading each one of these.

  2. Congrats on the Beautiful Blogger Award, well-deserved, and on another year of reflection, which for me, is what I do on my birthday. Think about what I liked, would have liked, and should like about my life. And oh yes, an ice cream cake. 😀 If you can have it, if not I’ll eat one for you. 😀

    Pink.

  3. first off Happy Happy Birthday. My mother is 65, all my life I waited for her to complain (like many other women) about her age. She has yet to do that. I remember her turning 40 and saying, “its just a number, i feel good and the good Lord gives me the strength to work harder than most men”. i am 35, but when asked, i usually don’t even remember my age. I have to count it up. That is one of many wonderful lessons my mom taught me. tomorrow i hope you have time to take a nice walk, listen to the birds, look at the spring flowers, breathe in fresh air and just enjoy being in the body that God gave you. love & hugs

  4. Congratulations to the award and … to getting more enriched -*smile – I would suggest you give the day to yourself – just to do what I feel for doing and when you feel for it. Spoil yourself on a SPA – a whole day treatments. Let the soul rest and body be taken care off.
Sod the cake, the family … friends – they will still be there on Sunday.

  5. I’d say put on your best ‘feel good’ outfit and just go out there, and at the end of the day, if it’s possible, gather your family and or friends about you for some laughter, hugs and good food.

  6. Well, first let me say an early Happy Birthday!!! Shall I sing to you :)? You’d run away, lol! Second, I don’t know what your financial state is but I would treat myself if I was you to something like a manicure or a new hair do or some such thing! Maybe dye it a new color? I’ll be 54 in July, so I’m not that far behind you girlfriend! I’ve been thinking about getting my hair cut short again, even though Mark likes it longer 😦 He met me when it was short-short and liked me enough then to marry me!! ha-ha. Just a thought!! Mucho hugs and kisses for your b-day, Terri

Everybody has great ideas… A trip to the store and buy some hair dye…Dye your hair at home…. Super cuts after for a new cut…. Merrill Norman make up… they will do a new make up face for you for free… ( I just buy something cheap! @ $10/$20.) then a new blouse or something at Marshal or a discount place to go with your new hair and make up… 🙂 Then you are are set for a new year!

    • my mind was saying ANYTHING YOU CAN THINK OF FOR A BIRTHDAY, but my better judgement thought i better say within reason. i don’t want people to know that i might have a wild inner side still left from my younger days, hahaha

  10. Your Birthday! Oh happy, happy birthday, Terry!
This is for sometime during your birthday weekend, since you will be busy celebrating tomorrow:
The first simple but beautiful thing that came to mind, since you want to share with others, is to find a large planter that you can set outside your entrance and then get an assortment of beautiful flowers, some trailing ones or vines too, and cheer yourself, your brother, and all passersby with your beautiful and growing little garden.
Have fun doing your hair and pampering yourself–sounds fun, and well deserved!
    Wising you joy! ~ Lily

    • i often am amazed sara at the way a connection can be formed through words.i never thought i could feel such a friendship through words only, without actually meeting in person. i, too, am a new blogger, five weeks. i used to write about my feelings for years, but never shared them. i never wanted anyone to think i was other than normal, lol, in thoughts. so much today in world is surface talk. here i have been able to be truthful from within, and realize people do understand
