  1. Those are some rather fascinating tidbits. Β Perhaps you should write about the year in Germany sometime? And the Candy Cane Restaurant sounds interesting πŸ˜‰ Hope you feel in a better mood soon β™₯β™₯β™₯

  2. This post is so original and I’m still trying to figure out how I got to your blog! By the way, Black Like Me is one of my favorite books, too. Don’t get me started on meandering around thrift stores… We all have more in common than we think.
    Nice to know you!

      • What’s the best thing you ever found in a thrift store? Hard to narrow down, right? You could do a post on that one! I include “antique malls” in the category and found a beautiful, mid-century textile with a bold, floral pattern (full of holes but unseen when draped over a chair) for a couple bucks and the best ever… 2 huge Arabesque-style mirrors with Moorish arches that I made them call the booth owner on for a lower price! I repainted them in a warm red semi-gloss and touched-up all the gold gilt. Goes with the textile and everything else now sitting in my storage pod. Lol. I love eclectic design! Then there’s the vintage, Mondi suit for $10…

      • I love anything vintage and antique. the best deal I ever found was a $3 Baby Thumbelina Doll which I sold for $100. I look for costume jewelry , just anything old!!!!! Oh I wish u lived near me!!!!

      • Agreed! If I had money and my old vision/health still, we could start a business. I love the jewelry cases and Bakelite. Even vintage buttons are neat… Oh, fun! Good for you for turning a profit on Thumbelina! I always thought I’d stumble across a real Chippendale chair at a garage sale and live the good life… Ha ha!

      • Why, thank you! I’m a “sleepy blogger” due to my health issues and have no idea what that is, but I’ll try to find out. So appreciate it–you made my night! πŸ™‚

Keep in touch! I have you bookmarked as it’s too hard for to me follow everyone w/my “low vision.” You have to start a “vintage finds” category!!! Do you ever dream about having a site on Etsy? Oh, that would be a good one!

      • Hey ’54,

Thanks for following me, btw! WP is not notifying me of this lately, but just notified me that I’m now following myself and I can’t delete myself!!! Hence, the late thank you.

I have you bookmarked due to my vision and troubles w/reading all in the inbox–think I mentioned that already.

Thx so much again for the award. I have to figure it all out and find more people who deserve it so I have that bookmarked, too (story of my life here).

      • I used to own my own antique store and I loved it so much. I wish I still had it. I have a CD here for easy installation and setting up for a web page but I just can’t do it because I don’t understand it. If I could get it done I could sell online!!!

      • Hey you, I did the same thing!!! When I first started my blog I clicked on follow. Ever since I have been my best follower!!! LOL, I wonder if you are finding any goodies this weekend

  3. Love these! How different we all are. I share some, differ in others. For instance, I hate cleaning the outside of the windows, just like you, but I prefer to clean the house in the morning, unlike you. The same… yet different. πŸ™‚

    • I really don’t know why I like to clean at night. I think it has something to do with waking to a new day. the house is clean and I am ready for the unexpected…….lol

  4. I think you may be my true soul sister…except for the camping thing I can only tolerate camping if it is at the Hilton where they have hot tubs and room service!
p.s. I love antiques so much I married one!!

    • I like the Hilton camping also! But outside my door is a wonderful fire ring. When family or friends sit with me and we listen to the snaps of the fire and gaze at the stars and the chat is relaxed, I become a new person…………………that is so funny about the marrying an antique. does he have any brothers??? knowing you as I do so far I can tell that you married a good one!

      • O unfortunately there is only him and one sister I am pretty sure she isn’t your type LOL.
Now I understand your comncept of camping yes I can relate and do that. That is the wonderful enjoyment of the nature God gave us, I miss my old place we were on acreage with big pond and trees…

      • you are right, she is not my type!! hehe. i love trees and anything with nature even those nasty racoons, watching them waddle cracks me up

  5. Stuttgart, Germany? Really? My dad was stationed there for a while and I was actually born in Mainz and lived in Vilseck and Graf. Loved Germany… mainly the food (go figure), but the castles were awesome. I did get a chance to see the wall a few years after it came down and got to go to Berlin and a concentration camp. Talk about a once-in-a-lifetime-experience. I was a bit too young to truly understand it at the time.

Oh my goodness.. drop me off at a Goodwill or any thrift store and leave me there for hours. Between books, records and finding small blankets for cat shelters and all kinds of odds and ends I’m a happy camper. That’s where I got hooked on reading John Saul.

My favorite place in the world is a library or a second hand book store. There was an awesome one in St. Augustine, Fl where I went to college and I bought out the section of John Saul books.

You collect crocks? as in the shoes or the croc heads I see at tourist trap stores? I collect shells. I have shells from the beaches of Martha’s Vineyard, MA, Panama City Beach, FL, Fort Walton Beach, FL and a few other beaches in Florida. I love not only the colors but textures.

There is nothing wrong with laughing so hard you pee your pants. I laugh so hard I’ve cried and snorted.
