What’s a Gal Supposed to do Next?

Rules of Dating

I slept in this morning and I think that helped me. I tried to stay busy and not think of Al as much. I spent the first three hours a wake trying to get rid of those squirrels. They are wanting the bird seed. I yelled at them through the kitchen window. I squirted them with my water bottle. This only worked twice and then they got smart.

I hit two of my pots and pans lid together. That worked great the first time but not after that. I finally broke down and took the contraption back to the store I bought it from yesterday and said, “Just give me my money back. I give up.”

They chuckled and said,” Now you are ready for the boss.” They showed me this bird feeder that when a squirrel tries to sit on it a spring drops down and the openings for the bird seed are shut. They can’t eat. Yeah, this has got to work!

Then I went to the eye doctor and had my eyes checked. My one eye had changed just enough to change the prescription. I picked out some new frames and I should be set to go one day next week.

Then I decided to think “me” for the next hour. I had to get groceries. I kept my head and eyes up and focused on the foods I was needing to get but also the people I passed. It was very interesting what I saw.

The first gentleman that I saw that was waving at me was the old guy from the tire store. Remember me telling you about him the other day? He asked me if I still remembered his name and I shook my head yes. He said, ” Call me Terry. Let’s get together.” I smiled at him and nodded. I looked his outfit over since my head and eyes were now at people level. He had dirty old holy tennis shoes on. Holes in his baggy jeans and a camouflage jacket on with a matching hat. I still can’t make myself get interested. His hair was all greasy. I am sorry. Maybe first looks are that important.

I told him to have a nice day and Easter and went about getting groceries. The store was pretty packed, but I kept moving through the aisles. Of all the people I noticed and passed three guys smiled at me.

I do have to be honest here and admit I was tuning in on the hotties in the store, no women or kids need to apply. One guy particular held my eyes and smile. This stayed this way until we passed each other. He was younger than me, I could tell, but boy oh boy was he a cutie. Two other guys smiled and one of them said hi to me. The last one that smiled was when I was walking to my car to unload the cart. He was right across from me doing the same thing in his car.

I spotted him first and he looked at me and smiled. I smiled back and then we did our own things. When I took the empty cart back to the rack, I could feel him watching me. When I turned around facing him again, he smiled again.

Now I am not gorgeous dame but these three guys smiled and I knew they were being friendly. But I am so out of date on the dating scene, I didn’t know what to do next. So I lost out on three hotties at the grocery store because I am too dumb to know the next move.

  1. Nice story …. when never now when … mr right is coming along .. good for you if he are younger. Just keep on smiling and I can read how positive it has affected you. It’s spring in the air.

  2. Thank you for visiting my site and using it as a related article. I will be looking in on your site as I can. Continued success!

  3. I really can’t help you there girl! But I’m thinking about you because me and my sister are going out to DAUSET TRAILS (GOOGLE IT) tomorrow to a bluegrass concert in a field. Gran your hat and a lawn chair and c’mon! This is one of the bands that’ll be playing.

    • way too many crazies. I think this is one thing that holds me back from moving to the next step of finding out anything. Maybe I am just getting too old and I am too cautious

  4. OH, I don’t know why I haven’t thought of this, but if you are really interested in getting back in the dating game, try one of those Christian online dating sites. Like Christian Mingle. A friend of our daughter went onto one of those sites, met a guy named Joe and they are now married! It might be fun and just what you need!

      • Yes Terry, like google search “Christian Dating” sites. I am sure they are given strict rules and it would be safe. What was so funny about this couple who got married the girl is a friend of our daughter. Our daughter kept telling her to go to a particular site; I can’t remember which one right now. The girl kept saying for years she would never do a dating site. LOL! now she is married to a great guy because she did! Let me know what you find out! I think this is exciting!

  5. Ok I am not afraid to apologize forget the guy from the tire store , I am sorry I gave you even a differen perspective, now that you were able to see him in a different lght. Now the guys in the market well heck terry you ARE attractive and a smile given is generally given back. I think you should do as Naphtali said try the dating site. this is the same one my step daughter and son-in-law met on and it has been a pretty good matchup. good luck and if they are a little younger well heck that is why they have now identified it as ‘cougars’ LOL…God bless my friend.

    • me? a cougar? well that is something to ponder on, hehe, dating sure has changed. I won’t jump in the sack to just date and I hear a lot of people talk about sleeping with each other the first or second date. not me!

  6. There is the saying “the best is yet to come” and it will always will. But only you can say “this must be it”. My unsolicited advice is: just remember the first time you did it. And if this could be likened to an experiment, the first one was always the controlling reference. Good luck my friend. I can’t wait to say congratulations.

    • I do have two feeders, one for the squirrels and one for birds, but the squirrels are greedy little bugers. I finally broke down and bought a new bird feeder. It has a spring that when a squirrel gets on it, the weight of it makes the windows shut over the food. I haven’t had a problem yet today, knock on wood!!

  7. I saw a new side of you, Terry! Cute! You made me laugh. I think you have to put yourself 1st at times and so be it. You’re still there for Al and he knows that and I bet he’d encourage you. Think of it as wearing 2 hats. Go have some fun and keep your head up; you never know who might catch your eye. I think it’s like our old talk about thrift stores–how much junk do you have to go through to find the gem? ๐Ÿ™‚
