POETRY CONTEST

A snail remains close to his shell

Crawling along at his own pace

Minding his own business

Like so many humans we

Copy what and how a snail lives

Then the ball  of the sun sets

And gentle breezes come through

Forcing us to look up and out

To see the beauty of what life offers

We sense friends who we once

Thought were so distant

And finally we smile

As we let our heart and soul

Escape the covering of our shell

And we soar across the skies

Realizing we were given one more chance

To live and breathe once more.

Spring Smells so Good

Yesterday I had one of those unplanned adventures that usually are better than any planned event. I ended up spending some time out of the house. I went with my daughter to have her hair done.

While she was sitting in the chair I wandered through a few stores. When she came out looking beautiful we went to a great place that serves the best burgers. From there we went back to her house, and I spent the evening and night with her family.

We talked into the wee hours. I got to see their new baby chicks. I had company while I slept, their adorable dog and I got to watch their crazy cat take over once all were in bed.

I slept in late and when I got up my daughter wanted to take me to Tennessee. This state is only a half-hour from my house and yet I felt like I was escaping to a new world. We saw some interesting views on the way. We shopped at a discount store we both enjoy. We ate at our favorite place, the Cracker Barrel.

When we were done we came home and then I returned to my own home. Getting out of the house for a while and talking to other human beings lifted my spirit 100%. The sun was warm. No jackets were needed. The air smelled fresh and of  Spring. I wish we could do this more often but I am thankful for this special time. Thank-you God for sending my daughter to me in a time I was at my most low.

Here are some photos I took between last evening and what I saw today on our mini trip.

One Voice

One Voice

When life seems like

It will never change

And the heart goes low

The clouds seem to linger

And you just can’t think

Then God sends an angel

For you and suddenly

The fog lifts

Your sight is more clear

Nothing changes on

The outside but the

Inner spirit comes alive

All because of an angel

Sent for you at the

Precise moment.
