Polite Company

“It’s never a good idea to discuss religion or politics with people you don’t really know.” Agree or disagree?

I agree. I have waded and got my feet wet in these type of conversations. It usually has a bad outcome. Adults we are speaking to; suddenly turn into children fighting over the special toy.

It is a very sensitive topic to each of us. Our upbringing, forming our own opinions according to what happens in our lives, helps us hold our thoughts and opinions close to our hearts.

If you get lucky to be on the same side of the rope, it can be a nice conversation, but please, no tug of war for me.

There are just certain questions I don’t ask anymore. I also don’t offer my opinions on Facebook either. I have sat and watched a conversation on a page running quick, with stinging words, hateful comments. It is sad to watch.

This all happens because this is one area where each of us believe we are right. I guess when it comes right down to it; it is personal and private. Now it is an entirely different answer you will receive from me if someone is seeking God. I will be the first one to help show him the way but what I have learned in my own life.
