You Don’t Know Me

You don’t know me
But I am your eyes
I see your pain
Written in the skies.

You don’t know me
But I am your heart
I feel your pain
When loved ones depart.

You don’t know me
But I am your soul
I can’t be much help
Unless you create me as whole.

You don’t know me
But I am your hands
I feel your trembling
When you sift through the land.

You don’t know me
But I am your tears
I wipe them a way
When your name is smeared.

You don’t know me
My name is strong
I will carry you through
From evening til dawn.
