Daily Prompt, One Word Prompt

The word for today is Treasure.

There are different thoughts that come to people’s minds when they hear the word treasure. Examples may be;

Money, coming into money, having more than you did a minute ago.

Children’s giggles, to us grandparents, there is definitely a treasure to the ear when we hear a baby giggle.

Others may feel a treasure is inside their home. The collections of trinkets gathered throughout their years.

Maybe getting to go out to a special restaurant with a loved one; brings back a multitude of treasured memories.

To some, the most prized treasure in their life is the Bible; sitting on their nightstand with the purple bookmark, waiting to continue on reading this night.

To some children, I would think getting some soupy rice and a cup of clean water is a treasure.

To many of us, being broke until next pay day, but knowing the bills are paid, is a delectable treasure.

To a teenager, who has worked hard, being handed his own keys to the car he paid for all by himself, is certainly his highest treasure at that point in his life.

To the cancer patient who hears the words, You are now cancer free, has to be about the best and biggest treasure they have ever had, and yet they are holding nothing in their hands.

So, what about you? What does treasure mean to you?

My Wish for Christmas

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas here in Northern Indiana.

It is the time of year those lost to us and gone to heaven; are thought more of than any other time. I know this is true for me.

This year I am thankful for my children and grandchildren. They come together and support me in ways that no other person can. It is wonderful to feel loved and know they want you near.

I will miss my brother and parents too. A special prayer to them will be said by me. I have lost many family members. All of my grandparents are gone. I have one aunt left. As the snow blankets our land, I feel my heart somehow reaches their souls and they know I am thinking of them.

It is a time to put bitterness, jealousies, anger aside and come together and remember the reason for this very important time of year. I wish there were perfect families; but there aren’t. Many times the hurt comes from those close to you.

We can carry feelings for eternity; if we choose to do this. This year, I pray that when my own family comes together, there is peace and harmony.

I don’t know about you; but the best gift  I can receive is smiles on each family member’s face. A hug upon arrival, and the words, “I love you”, when departing.

I will treasure every moment spent with my family this year. I won’t be traveling, or making reservations for anywhere. I just want to be with my children and grandchildren, sitting by the fireplace; making new memories.

Daily Prompt, One Word Prompt

The word for today is; PROTEST

an expression or declaration of objection, disapproval, or dissent, often in opposition to something a person is powerless to prevent or avoid:
We are one of many who walk on this earth. We each take up the same air. Our hearts beat in the same manner. We feel with our emotions just like those across the waters from us.
So why is it that we Protest?
Shouldn’t we each be allowed to have our unique opinions? Is it really that important that I believe what you believe in? Do we not have different colors of skin, hair, eyes? This alone, makes us each different and yet the same. Human beings, wanting to be needed, loved, approval.
We look the same don’t we? We or most of us have two legs, two arms, two eyes, one trunk, two ears, one nose. But, yet, we want more. We can’t have it. We have to respect that others may not like our Presidents, our religions, our food choices, our mates, and maybe our children.
I think there are some logical reasons for protesting, but it seems through my eyes, that we thus protest way too much. Anything that we don’t agree on, we protest.
God says, love one another as you love yourself, and this is what I try to do, and intend to do until I no longer breathe your space. I don’t always agree with decisions, but have to ask myself, is it worth it? Would standing up and protesting benefit?
Only you know the answer to that question. I just want it to stop. Peace is what this earth needs, and now that Christmas season is here, why not think about starting that new tradition of finding peace.

Daily Prompt , One Word Prompt

The word for today is SACRED.
I believe there is nothing more sacred than how we feel about ourselves . Top-dog jobs, million dollar homes, multiple vehicles, poverty, disabilities. Need I go on?

There is power in our world; positive and negative power. We can help our people rise and we can also destroy with the slip of the tongue.

We need to hold our thoughts of who we are to a high enough level, that we remain safe when unkind words and gestures are used.

We need to remember our purpose for living on this earth. God waste nothing and no one .  If you haven’t figured out your purpose for being gifted the chance to breathe today; ask God, he will show you .

Hold your soul and heart sacred and let nothing or anyone convince  you of anything less.
