Knowing Ourselves

Do you do things because

The media says it is okay to do?

Do you follow the lead

Or are you the leader?

Do you stand up for what you believe

Or would you give in to save drama?

What would your parents and grandparents say

If they could see the world today?

Are you shocked at the quick movement of our world

Or do you ignore most things and do as you need?

Do you sit and ponder on how your grandchildren will live in the future

Or do you feel they will learn, just like you had to?

Do you have most conveniences or

Do you still like the old ways?

I ask these questions because I am getting closer to the old age and I have actually begun to get to know myself better now than ever before. Please feel free to answer or copy and past, answer and share.Hugs,Terry Shepherd

  1. Hmmm, these are good questions. I tend to sift everything for the wisest way to go. So, some things I do are in an old way, with familiarity and the kind of rut that keeps me upright and flowing. Some things I do are due to new knowledge and new options, because they are wise or because they make my life’s chores and responsibilities easier to perform. I am easing into seniority as well, and I love the cordless vacuum I have for its lightness and ease of use, so I can keep up with my housecleaning. I enjoy my dishwasher for the same reason. I really enjoy using pickup grocery services so I don’t have to traipse through the store for an hour to shop for the week, too. Saves me energy for the putting away of the groceries, and it’s free, so why not? I also avoid impulse buys that way.

  2. We always say the good old days, but having lived as my parents lived, – in the war, I would not say it was that good. We live in a good world, we have enough to eat, more than enough where we are, other countries haven’t. We can get almost everything we want. Technology makes it possible to connect around the globe, we do live in a good world. There has always been murder and bad behaviour in olden days but it wasn’t being going through facebook etc so people didn’t hear about it so much. People need to become kinder and live more peaceful, that is what we need to pray for and the world will be an even better place.
