The Broken Mirror

The Broken Mirror
The coldness of your heart
Touches deep within my skin
The day you wanted to part
Gives me chills from deep within

I can still feel your heart  beating
I can taste your oh sweet lips
The stolen moments of meetings
Your hands sliding down my hips.

When you laid me on the bed
And you stroked my face that way
When you kissed me toe to head
And you showed your loving way

When you and I together
Clinched hands and tasseled hair
When the lightning from the weather
Was quieted and our souls were bared

I touch the place that you once touched
And I smell the pillow case
I can’t believe the hush
Tears running down my face

I will learn to forget you
I will sense you no longer more
I will forget your eyes so blue
I will forget the walks along the shore

Don’t come round and beg me
Don’t let thoughts of me come near
For the weakness of my knees
Will surely show my fears

So this is how it shall be
A tearing of the heart
I stand looking back at me
Touch the mirror and it breaks apart.

New Skin/ The Daily Post

New Skin

If you could spend the next year as someone radically different from the current “you” — a member of a different species, someone from a different gender or generation, etc. — who would you choose to be?

I would choose to be a child from years gone by

Where children were shown love and taught not to lie

Parents worked hard all day long

After supper dad even played a song

Rules were followed; only told twice

Kids knew if they were  being naughty or nice

Chores were expected to be done each day

It was a learning experience in every way

Sunday was definitely a day of rest

Went to church in their Sunday best

When problems arose they prayed to God

They said their words so full of love

Families stuck by each others side

Even when homes were far and wide

I can’t say I have ever lived like this

But to me it sounds like awesome bliss

For God put us on this earth for a reason

To share, to love in every season.

It Hurts So Bad

It Hurts So Bad

It hurts so bad

When you turned a way

My love is torn

My heart did crack

My soul reflects

Through tears of pain

I could never love another

There’s absolutely no way

I will remain here forever

Holding tight to what

Was once a dream

I say a silent prayer

You find what you

Are looking for

And when you see clear

You make your way

Back into my arms

For I will always love you.
