For the last few days gay marriage has been on the news and in talk shows. I listened and watched to the Katie show this afternoon. It had several gay families on it along with their children.

I listened intently to the reasons that gay marriage should be recognized in more if not all  states. It was heart-felt for me as I heard couples stating that they lived  the same normal lives that heterosexual families have.

I listened to them state that they want equality as regular marriages have with all the benefits of health coverage etc. I heard them profess long-term love for each other.

I heard one child state that he was pretty sure he was gay in his teens and tried to end his life.

The debate is huge and could be a large stepping stone in our century. It would bring around many changes.

I am not here to say whether it is a good thing or bad thing.  I don’t know if I can truly understand most of it since I am not gay or lesbian. I imagine love is love. Pain is pain and we all hurt in the same ways.

I pray for our country. I pray that God will allow what is good to happen in our life time. I trust that God always knows best. He knows our future as well as he knows our past. I pray for the President and the entire congress as the decisions that are about to be made are what is in all of our best interest.

Angel tagged me with this Haphazardly Tag.

The rules are to post one blog you wrote in this past week. Next answer the questions. Finally, nominate three bloggers.

The Post I will place here that I wrote within this week is;

http://quotes4meandyou.wordpress.com/2013/03/23/quotes-101/

The questions are;

Do you sleep with your closet doors open or closed? Always closed. I have always feared the boogie man! LOL

What would you call yourself if you could choose your own name? Terri instead of Terry. My dad wanted a boy and people always instantly think I am a guy

What’s the worst/most embarrassing CD/album you’ve ever owned and do you still have it?
One year when I didn’t care about who I represented on this earth I made a CD that was all Christmas music. The words were full of adult humor.

As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up? A mommy and a nurse

When was the last time you cried from laughter, and why?

Just last week. The kids came here the evening of the funeral. They were exhausted and stressed. As we all talked everyone loosened up and soon we were laughing about memories so hard I was crying.

Do you like to use Post-It© notes?

I have to now a days. It started this year. I would go to the grocery store and forget items, so I began to make notes whether it be the grocery store, Walmart, or for Al.

Do you practice your smile for pictures? Most of the time I don’t smile for pictures. I am so aware of my weight that I try to hide among people. I forced myself to smile when I went to the doctor’s office because I knew that I was going to post it for you.

Do you sleep with your sheets out or tucked in?

Call me odd but I sleep with everything tucked in and up to my neck. Sheets, blankets, and comforter. Even in the summer the sheet is always over me. I have this weird thing about something crawling on me and maybe biting me. LOL

What is the most bizarre item of food you’ve ever eaten?

I am a coward. I only eat beef, chicken, fish or ham. I eat lobster, shrimp, and clams. I don’t eat anything that will slime down my throat, or that I saw wiggling five minutes earlier. I don’t eat raw fish, and I don’t eat fish where they eyes are still showing. I guess I am picky, but I never thought so until I reread my answers.

Do you chew on your pen/pencil?

When I was a kid in school I  used to bite on my pencils to see how deep of teeth marks I could make. Mom always told me my teeth would come out and get stuck in the pencil and I would die of lead poisoning. So no, I don’t chew or bite either as an adult.

What’s your least favorite movie? Please don’t come through the screen and slap me! LOL I don’t like sci-fi so Star Wars would be the ultimate worst movie ever for me.

Where would you bury a hidden treasure if you had it?

Where is safe at today? The banks aren’t safe. They have too many fees to rob you of your money. The stock market is a mess. CD’s and bonds take too long to mature and I don’t want to pay the penalty to pull them out early. So probably in my underwear drawer. No one will ever look there now that I am almost 59 years old. hehe

When was the last time you wrote a letter to someone on paper?

A month ago. I wrote a letter to Al and my Grandma in Florida. Al wanted me to write it and tell her that he thinks of her a lot and loves her. To this day we don’t know if she ever received it as we have heard nothing.

What was the first concert you attended?

I have never been to a concert.

Have you ever won a spelling bee?

No, but I did come in second place in the fourth grade.

Do you hold your nose when you jump into a swimming pool?

No I never hold my nose. Don’t you know the old saying,”fat floats”? I have never been afraid of drowning. I have tried to go to the bottom of the pool and stay but I guess the saying is true because I always come back to the top!

Are you patient?

In some ways I am more patient now that I am older, but in other times I am more impatient. Noise and little kids usually makes me impatient. My neat and tidy house I can let go longer than a day now without cleaning. Since I dine alone, I just want to get it over. I am never impatient with sleep anymore. I can sleep anytime and anyplace.

What is the type and model of the first phone you ever had?

The first cell phone I ever had was a pay as you go phone. Then I thought I had to have what others had so I got a Droid. I barely used the internet and most of the apps I didn’t use. So now I have a plain jane phone. As long as it answers phone calls and I can text I am content.

Favorite celebrity?

Judge Judy, Adam Sandler, Julia Roberts, Robin Williams

Who is your favorite American president? Why?

Touchy area as I don’t usually talk about politics. For me personally the last President we had that I respected and believed in was Ford. He seemed sincere and honest. He seemed to care about our country and the people living in it.

What would you do with a $1 million lottery winning?

I would pay my car off!!!!!! With me not working it is a constant worry for me. Then I would buy a piece of land with most of the property left in virgin state. I would have my log cabin finally. It would be filled with antiques, a wall to wall fireplace, wood floors, a real antique stove. A nice porch with a porch swing overlooking a pond that was filled with fish. When I look out my back windows I would see deer and rabbits. I would have so many bird feeders. Life would be divine for me, next to living in Heaven.

Do you believe in ghosts?

I don’t believe in ghosts. I do believe in good and bad spirits and I definitely believe in angels.

Is it easier to forgive or forget?

It is much easier for me to forgive. I have taken a long time to forgive someone. I know that Jesus forgives so I can too, but forgetting is almost impossible. I do keep those bad times buried way back in my mind. Writing is a place where sometimes those thoughts come to life but they do help me heal.

Education or wealth – which is better to have?

At this point in my life I would choose wealth. As I get older I get more ailments than I used to. I would like to know that I am not going to leave my kids hanging with my funeral expenses. I would like to know that I can give Al what he needs for as long as he is here. If we are talking many years ago I would choose education. I would have been better off now that Social Security is present. If I would have worked higher paying jobs and had a life time career I would be more set than I am now for the Golden Years, but alas it is too late now.

One thing most people don’t know about you.

This is a  hard one. I have told about all of you everything there is to know. One thing, if I had money to pay back loans I would still go to Nursing School to become a nurse.
