Insert Magazine 92 - Sweet Treat @ Chocolada

Daily Post

Daily Prompt

Vanilla, chocolate, or something else entirely?

I am red and white and oh so cold

I come in a cup and if I may be so bold

I do not share what I doeth eat

You will have to get your own sweet treat

I can actually cost a lot

I dig for change and give all I got

I sit in my corner all by myself

Looking as if I am made of wealth

I take a bite and my eyes do spin

I think it’s the lottery I did win

I let it linger on my lips

I know I know it’s going to my hips

I make each bite last oh so long

Inside my head I am singing a song

This is a treat for me today

To ride my bike along this way

To sit here in the booth, just me

This strawberry cheesecake is my cup of tea

Did you figure it out my friends? No chocolate or vanilla for me. It is the Strawberry Cheesecake Blizzard from the Dairy Queen Ice-Cream Shop

Super Sweet Blogging Award

Ivonne nominated me for this cute award. Look at the picture. Isn’t it just so edible?super-sweet-blogging-award21

Here is a bit of information about Ivonne. She is so bubbly and full of life. I love reading her blogs and chatting with her.

Who am I? Hmnn….that is a question that I am always asking myself and that is always evolving and changing.

I have been a professional actress since the age of 17.

I have been clowning around and doing children’s entertainment since the age of 19, my “day job” so to speak.

I am currently getting receieved my M.A. degree in religious studies from CSULB in May 2011.

I decided that at the age of 50 I would start learning how to play the piano and guitar.

My passions are sex-religion-chocolate-the arts- travel and my dog Missy.  And now we will add music to that list.  Actually music should have always been there as I am a dancer and a dancer must have music.

This blog is where you will find pieces of my soul, my heart, my mind and hopefully my humor……

The questions I’m to answer:

Give credit to the person who chose to nominate you:  Ivonne

  4. When do you crave sweet things the most? sweet things remain in my mind at any time

Super Sweet Blogger Award

I was nominated just now for this scrumptious looking award.

A little bit about this blogger is right here,

I am a working mum and I spend my days juggling childcare, swimming lessons and screaming babies with board reports, budgets and internal audits. In my “free time” I like to write short stories and to voice my opinions on the oddities of life. With no other grand plan on what to blog about, I have decided to base my blog on this.

I then need to nominate a baker’s dozen (13 other blogs) (see below) and answer some super sweet questions. Thank and link back to the person who nominated you (already covered).

The Super Sweet Questions: 1. Cookies or Cake? Cookies! 2. Chocolate or Vanilla? Chocolate . What is your favorite sweet treat? a slice of cheesecake. 4. When do you crave sweet things the most? Right before bedtime, darn it!  5. If you had a sweet nickname, what would it be? The best thing I can think of is one word, FRIEND

Super Sweet Blogging Award And Family of Bloggers Award

Bonita has honored me with two awards today. One is the Super Sweet Blogging Award. Isn’t the symbol adorable and looks good enough to eat?

Also, she nominated me for the Family of Bloggers Award!

Bonita is a Christian woman who seems to be able to do everything, even when she is having her bad days of pain. She writes very inspirational blogs. Make sure to check her site out!

For the Super Sweet Award you must answer these questions:

a.  Cookies or Cake?, cookies or cake, as long as they are home made. I usually buy the store bought cake mix that is less sugar and the same for the frosting.

b.  Chocolate or Vanilla?, always chocolate, it is a girl’s best friend, next to diamonds!!

  c.   What is your favorite sweet treat?  ice-cream, vanilla with chocolate syrup. I don’t keep it on hands much, because I would never stop opening the freezer door. Al did have an obsession with ice-cream, and we were having it every night. Thank goodness that obsession is over!

d.   When do you crave sweet things the most?  In the evenings, I hate it! No matter what time we have our dinner, in the late evening I want to snack. I try to snack on proteins, although my mouth is watering for sweets!

e.   If you had a sweet nickname, what would it be? quiet girl, it fits me anymore, but it used to be big mouth!!!!

Nominate a bakers dozen:

M.- Mad woman LOL, sometimes I feel like I am going mad!!

I.- Insight, I seem to be able to feel or see what others are trying to express

L.- Loving, I always have plenty of love for others who need it

Y.-  Yearning, I always have a yearning to learn more in the medical field, therefore being able to do more for others.

These answers are my own answers. You will need to replace them with your own.

Nominate at least 4 other people to be in your family of bloggers, and for this award, and notify them of their nomination.

Thank you Bonita for both of these awesome awards! God bless.

Do You Think This Will Make Al Smile?

I didn’t have much on hand, so I tried this recipe to make Al have at least one smile today.

This is a mayonnaise cake with an old recipe for the frosting.

The cake recipe is,

A chocolate mayonnaise cake, made with mayonnaise in place of eggs and oil.

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/2 cup cocoa
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Sift together the flour, cocoa, soda and salt. Cream together the sugar, mayonnaise, water and vanilla. Add dry ingredients to the creamed mixture; stir until well blended. Pour batter into greased and floured layer cake pans (or a 9- x 13-inch pan). Bake at 350°F. for about 25 minutes.

The frosting is one that was made by my grandma when she didn’t have the powdered sugar. I could not find the recipe, but did find one similar to it. On my own recipe, I used more vanilla, then the recipe called for, giving it the more yellow look, as I didn’t have clear vanilla. I only use clear vanilla at the holidays. Don’t ask me why only then, it is just an old habit! LOL

Flour Cake Icing
From Stephanie

This is an old flour cake frosting recipe from my Aunt Jennie. She called it Flour Icing. I’ve had it for years. I remember being at her home and she made this incredible white cake and frosted it with this fluffy yummy icing and I asked her for the recipe and like the sweetie that she was/is, she shared.

Flour Cake Icing

5 T. flour
1 cup milk
2 sticks butter, room temperature do not melt!!
1 cup sugar
1 tsp. vanilla

In saucepan, mix flour and milk over medium heat until thickened. Let cool. Meanwhile cream (room temperature) butter, sugar, and vanilla. Add cooled flour mixture to creamed butter and blend until light and fluffy.

So, after some time in the kitchen, I have the finished product. I sprinkled some red crystals on top to give it a more fun look to Al. I am hoping he will find it fun enough to look at, and then want a piece.
