Continuing Story Part 23

Dahlia wanted to go home with these people. She loved where she lived and enjoyed her

school. She reached over and gave Ruth a hug and thanked her for finding her and helping her back to safety. Ruth smiled, and said go along now girl, don’t give these nice people anymore scary moments. Ruth went on to say to Rachel and Ralph, that she hoped they could all find solutions to the problems at home. As the three walked out the door and got into their car, Ruth could be seen waving from the door.

There was not much talk inside the car, as it was a short drive to their own front door. When they arrived, all the boarders and Drake came out to greet them. Looks of concern were seen as each one wondered what had happened, but no one asking, accept Drake.

He walked over and helped Dahlia out of the car taking her by the elbow and walking her through the front door of the house. Although there was no real discussion about Drake and Dahlia’s relationship, there was an understanding between the two that something was growing, so Drake felt like he had every right to ask Dahlia what had happened.

He led her to the living room couch, while the others, all went to the kitchen. They sat around the table, each pouring themselves a cup of coffee or tea. Ralph cleared his throat, and began the process of explaining the terrible story, and while he was talking, Drake was also questioning in the other room.

Dahlia didn’t do as well telling the tale of what had happened the night before, but Drake kept nudging. He had to know that she was not trying to run away because of him. She slowly started to speak and by the time the words came out and were comprehended, Drake stood up and flew into the kitchen, and demanded to his parents that something be done about this. This was absurd he yelled. He thought that Drew had been cured, how could this have happened after all this time, and to Dahlia, the one he loved and planned to marry.

The whole room got silent as he spat out those last words. Love, marry, was this the plan? Is this the thoughts that were going through his mind about the young lady in the living room?  His father told him to try to calm down. They would take care of this, and they had already promised Dahlia that they would return Drew back to the doctor, and that they were also going to take Dahlia to a doctor as well, to make sure she had not been harmed physically.

Drake left the kitchen and went straight to Drew’s room, and when he knocked on the door, no one answered. He thrust open the door but the room was empty.  He slammed the door shut and went back into the kitchen and asked his parents where Drew was. All they knew was that he had been here when they had received the phone call.

Drake went back to where he had left his beautiful lady sitting, and told her that everything was going to be alright. He would make sure himself, that this would never happen again. Dahlia swore that she did nothing to provoke this and she was caught off guard. Drake took her in his arms and held her close, stroking her hair and vowed his love to her. He told her that he knew that she was innocent, and he spoke sweet, soft love words to her, letting her know with no doubts remaining, that he loved her. She looked in the direction of his face, and whispered to him that she had loved him from the first moment she had heard his deep voice.

He took her in his arms, and wrapping his hands around the frame of her face, poured his feelings into her lips. He stopped long enough to say I love you again, and then went back for another drink of her love.

When he had quenched his thirst, he dropped his hands to his lap, and standing up explained that he had some important errands that had to be tended to. He told her he was sorry that he was leaving so abruptly, but he had no choice. She said she understood, and although another had taken her innocence the day before, she felt safe and secure from the touch of his body next to hers, and the words he had said to her went straight to her heart. She was glad that Ruth had found her and helped her find her way back to her home.

Drake got in his car, to start the hunt of his brother, but as he was backing out of the drive, he caught a glimpse of Drew in the back yard, sitting on the swing. Drake put the car back in its spot, and got out and quickly made his way to where Drew was sitting.

With no words to be spoken, Drake picked Drew up by the back of his shirt, and before Drew could even think about escaping, Drake punched him in the face. The punch was so firm that it threw Drew backwards and he fell to the ground. Drew stood up and felt his lip with his fingers, and looking at his fingers he saw blood stains.

Drake said I don’t know what has happened to you. You were supposed to be cured, and now you go and take advantage of my girl. Drew gave him a smirk and asked, your girl? Yes, my girl. we both love each other and I intend to make her my wife when the school year is over. You keep your hands and mind off of her, do you hear? If this ever happens again, I will not be so gentle next time, I will kill you with my bare hands, so stay away from her and get yourself some help. I love you as my brother, but you have crossed the line. Get some help or I will denounce you as my family!

Drew sat there looking at him, and didn’t blame Drake at all for the way he felt. Hell, he didn’t even know why he had done this terrible thing to Dahlia either. He thought back to that night, and the only thing he found thrilling about it was the fear in her eyes. Other than that, he could have walked away.

Drake didn’t get in his car but instead took off on foot down the road, needing time to think, to sort out what he had learned in the past hour. There was a part of him that felt sadness for Drew, because he knew this was not the brother that he loved, but he also had to do what he could to make sure Drew stayed away from his girl, and that he would cause no harm to any other females.

He thought about the words that he had confessed to Dahlia, and how she had admitted that she felt the same way. Suddenly his mind turned from the tragedy and went instead to the love that he felt, and how he would protect her to the end of his days. He found himself walking right into town, where he stopped at jewelry store and picked out a beautiful gold bracelet. It was very thin and delicate, gold running full circle. He then went to the florist shop and picked out one white rose.

When he got home, Dahlia was no longer in the living room, so he went to her bedroom door and knocked on it letting her know it was him at the door.

Continuing Story Part 17

After school was over the next day, Dahlia went to Drakes classroom and knocked on the

Dahlia "Dahlstar Sunset Pink"

door. He announced come in without looking up to see who it was. She entered the room and made her way to a desk and sat down quietly, not saying a word.

When Drake finished what he was reading he looked up and instantly smiled at her. She could not see this, but she did feel the warmth of the room, knowing he was near her. He asked her if she was ready to start grading papers for him and she barely got the word yes out of her mouth as she was so shy, knowing she and he were the only ones in this room.

He carried some papers and a braille paper with the correct answers on it, and placed it in front of her on the desk. He took her hands and guided them over the papers, telling her how he wanted it done and what would be easiest for her. He asked her if she had any questions, and when she answered with a simple no, he let her be, and walked back over to his desk, silently watching her. He noticed the long slender neck that held a head full of beautiful, soft hair. Her nose was so straight and slender, it made him want to walk over and giver her a kiss on the tip of it. The dress that she wore today, showed  that her body was a perfect delight to look at. Long legs that held firm thighs. She was so beautiful in his eyes. He just wanted to grab her and hold her forever and kiss her neck and find those pouty lips.

He found it difficult to pull his eyes a way from her, but he had to get the work done or he would get behind for class tomorrow. She continued to work, and didn’t even stop for a small break. When she was finished, she walked over to his desk, and laid all of the papers down  for his inspection and said she had finished the job. Was there anything else that he needed help with?

His answer was no but to hang on for a few more minutes and they would walk home from school together. She felt her way back to her seat, and sat down, patiently waiting. She wanted to actually run her fingers over his whole face, drinking in the shape of his eyes, and cheeks, his nose and chin. She knew he was a beautiful man already, but she wanted to get to know him better. She could tell by the distance of his voice when he spoke to her, that he was probably about a foot taller than her. She knew that his lips were soft and yet firm, from the kiss he had stolen from her yesterday. She allowed herself to dream about that moment while waiting for him to announce he was ready to go.

The voice came sooner than expected and the two of them gathered up their bags and headed through the school doors out into the world to walk home. They made their way to almost the house and suddenly Drake grabbed her hands and gently pulled her behind a big oak tree. She could hear her own breathing, and he could see desire in her eyes. He cupped his fingers around the frame of her face and gently, but slowly drank of her lips.

She reached her arms up to his face and ever so gently traced the outline of his jaw, his nose and his eyes. He was just as she had imagined, she thought, as she returned his kiss back to him. They let go of each other, and neither saying a word, they finished their walk home and went through the front doors.

Supper was being placed on the table and Ralph told each of them to go get freshened up for supper, that it was almost time for grace. Each escaped from the kitchen and took their belonging and their feelings back to their rooms. Dahlia feeling her hair to make sure it was smooth and in place, she walked to her bathroom and wet a wash cloth and wiped her face off, not touching the spot where Drake had once touched.

The two of them appeared in the door way, and all sat down and gave thanks to this meal and began to enjoy each others company.  Table was cleared and all headed toward the favorite spot of the porch, but for tonight, Dahlia knew she could not concentrate on anything but her kiss, so she excused herself and said that she had home work to do.

She found herself outside in the back yard, practicing more dance steps the teacher had been teaching this week. Ralph had taken to see saws and had sanded down a long pole, so that she would get no splinters, and had placed a practice bar for her to lean on and do her steps.

This helped her advance more quickly in her class, giving her legs better chances of becoming strong.  She could feel the strength in her legs as she was now able to stand much longer on her tip toes, balancing herself, without sometimes having to hang on the bar.

After she exhausted herself from this she went back inside, and up to her room, where she studied her books and lessons from today. There came a knock at the door, and she said to come in, and it was her friend Sue. Sue made her way to the bed, and said she just wanted to see how Dahlia was doing. She asked question after question, trying to get out of Dahlia information about her and Drake.

At first, Dahlia made up excuses as to why she could not talk right now, that she had home work to finish up, but Sue would not let it go, and in no time at all the excitement rose in the room, and Dahlia found herself closing her books and walking over to where Sue sat and telling her about the old oak tree.

Sue gasped and reached over and hugged her new friend, exclaiming how happy she was for the two of them, and hoping that soon she, herself would find a nice man like Drake. The two girls talked until a knock came at the door announcing it was lights out time. Sue and Dahlia gave each other a big hug and then each went their separate ways for the evening. Dahlia changed her day clothes into night-clothes, and after finishing brushing her hair and her teeth, she laid down to dream about Drake.

This is an exercise writing prompt, given by Ermilia. Thank-you for a chance to write for you.

He walked back over the bridge, the cool air hitting the warmth of the waters. He could not see the ripples but his ears tuned into the soft trickles wrapping its body around the edges of dry land.

His heart was broken, as the girl he had just walked away from had broken his heart.

He had moved to a foreign country to do some government work, and had laid eyes upon her beauty one evening at a pub. For him it was love at first sight, but for her, she took her time. Two different countries, two different cultures.

Every night that he had to work over, he would stop at the diner that was only two blocks from his office. She greeted him with a smile, as she led him to her section of tables, and without asking, she brought him a cold beer and sat it down in front of him with her infamous smile.

He looked into her pools of green eyes that shimmered with yellow specks mixed in with emerald. Her teeth were so white, that they reminded him of pure virgin. She was short and petite, and wore a bob for a hair style. Smooth skin that was olive. He wanted to reach out and touch it but kept his desires under control.

She would tell him the nightly specials and with in no time at all, bring his hot plate to him with another beer in her other hand. Flirting was against her upbringing, but when she was behind the counter, cleaning up others dining spots, they would both steal looks at each other and smile.

He learned to make excuses to stay late more and more, and she seemed to be always eagerly awaiting his arrival. One night after his meal was finished, he motioned to her to sit down for a moment. She looked around to see if her boss was near, and sat down for a moment, asking what did he need.

He asked her to meet him this coming Friday. There was a diner about two blocks from  his office going the other way, and he wanted her to sit and be waited on instead of the other way around. She looked him in the eye, seeming to consider his offer, and then softly shook her head in approval. He told her the time and they parted, knowing they would see each other again in a few days.

It was their first real date, and it went very nice, no hurrying or pushing, just taking time to ask many questions and getting to know each other. Their food was good, and she had to admit that it felt nice to sit for a change and not have to scamper off to wait on another. They talked into the evening, and before they both realized, it was time for her to go home.

Her parents were very strict, with strong rules. There was much work to be done at home and siblings to help take care of. He paid the bill and left the waitress a tip and helped her up out of her chair and they walked out of the door.  He asked her if he could walk her home, and she agreed to part way, and then they would have to go their separate ways.

He grabbed her hand, wanting to hold it in his, but she jerked it back shaking her head no, that someone could see them. He didn’t argue, but told her at their corner, that he had a wonderful time and he would like to see her again. She smiled and looked up at him, causing him to melt and they agreed to meet once again the next Friday at this same restaurant.

This went on for several weeks, but one night on the way to their departing corner, he pulled her into the shadows of the buildings and he kissed her. At first, she didn’t respond out of fear, but soon her body gave in and she returned his kiss.

From that moment on it was a magical ride for the two of them. Every moment was spent in the shadows getting to know each other intimately. They proclaimed their love for each other and promised they would never part.

After months had gone by and they had proven to each other their love, he asked her to marry him and she said yes. They sealed it with many kisses and spent well into the evening making passionate love to one another, vowing their bodies to each other.

They set a date for him to meet her parents and so that he could ask for her hand in marriage. The time arrived and he knocked firmly on the door of her and her parents house, and she met him with sadness in her eyes. He took one glance at her face and asked her what was wrong. She said that she had told her parents about the two of them and how much in love they were, and that she had found the man she wanted to marry. She told them that she would go back to his home state and they would have children and make her parents proud, but they were not proud.

He gave her a quick peck on the nose and told her not to worry, that he would talk to her parents and would explain how he felt about their daughter, and how much he loved her and would take good care of her.

She led him into the living room where the parents sat in opposite chairs, awaiting for his arrival. They nodded for him to sit, and then listened with blank faces as he pronounce his love for their daughter.

They told him it was not their custom to allow their children to marry out of their religion and cultures, that he seemed like a very nice young man, but they were sorry the answer had to be no. They could not be disgraced like this in their own country. They asked him to now leave and to not look their daughter up anymore and to go home.

There was no arguing, because children did not argue with parents where she came from. With tears in her eyes, and he with a broken heart, she walked him to the door, and let him outside to leave. Before leaving, he took her in  his arms and gave her a kiss that was like no kiss she had ever received. He vowed to her right there, that somehow they would get around this, and she looked at him with her green pools filled with tears, and confessed that this would never happen.

He took one last glance and touched her olive skin and turned around, not daring to look back and made his way across the bridge.

Thank you Kellie for giving me a chance to explore my mind with this exercise prompt.

Stars twinkling, racing from above ore across the skies. Taking dreams of my tomorrows with them. Lights bouncing from tree to tree, allowing my mind to jump to where I can not see.

Mystical thoughts enter my mind as I ponder on what tomorrow may hold.

Thoughts of your arms around me, kissing me gently on the lips is what I for see for you and me.

A walk under the moonlight, two lovers holding hands, walking step by step into never ever land. Stopping under the old oak tree to still a kiss, which is only seen by the sounds of the nights.

A dream of love never escapes my mind, and I know if I dream long enough, it will certainly come true, for all fairy tales have happy endings, and so mine will also.

I wish for strong hands, and broad shoulders to cover me in love, protecting me from all the dangers  in this cruel world. I wish for a head to lean mine next to. A lap to sit upon and whisper sweet nothings in to your ear.

As you place the soft blanket under the mysterious trees, and you gently take my hands and help me down to the softness of the grass, you raise my head up, placing your lips next to mine, devouring my love that I so freely give to you.  The branches from the trees reach out like arms and hide us from the view of all others, protecting our moment that is to be shared only by the two of us, and swaying in the winds, leaves gently fall around us, mixing in with our droplets of love.

You tell me you love me, and you will never want another, and I believe each word escaped from your lips. Tears fall from my very own eyes, and the misty eyes drink  in your sight as you caress each place I glide your hands to.

To be in love is what I whisper to the stars, to be safe with you is a hunger that is always needing to be nourished. I long for this, and so I come here tonight, to tell the gods of my yearning, and I can see your silhouette carved in the knots on the trees.

I walk back to where my journey started and I leave my secrets sheltered among the forest, and I planted a dream, which will grow like wild flowers, and one day soon will sprout buds that with love and  nurturing, will soon be nothing but a dream
