Daily Prompt; No Longer a Mere Mortal

http://dailypost.wordpress.com, DP, Daily Prompt

You’ve imbibed a special potion that makes you immortal. Now that you’ve got forever, what changes will you make in your life? How will you live life differently, knowing you’ll always be around to be accountable for your actions?

Photographers, artists, poets: show us LONGEVITY.

The first thing that came to my mind when I read this is thin. Please let me be thin forever. Don’t let me ever have to worry about what I eat. Let me have sugars, sweets, eat two helpings of anything.twiggy banana splitbanana split

Let me be beautiful. Let all men who look my way never be able to take their eyes off of me.beautiful lady

Let me be rich, let me never run out of money. Let me buy all that I dream of. Let me lay in pools of gold.TREASURE_CHEST_s

Then I began to think how selfish I am. Is this really going to make me happy?

Is this going to make me content for eternity with no purpose in my life?

I doubt it. It is a dream that we wish for, but not for a life time.

How would we learn from life without lessons? How could we smile when the only one we gift is our self?

I believe we would grow bored. There would be no nothing. An empty box with our face plastered all over it, but no smiles to look at.empty box

Eventually we would become lifeless. We would just want to curl up in our coffin and die early.coffin

We need things to work for in our life. We need goals, we need to stay busy. We need to know that we can create goals and accomplish them.

We need to be able to look forward to the next day, month and year. We need to help our neighbors, be there for our families. We need to love life.

Yes, having everything for a while would be a dream come true, but hard work and a reason for living would make up so much happier.

  4. That is exactly where we are in life. We forget the longevity of eternity…..Just think FOREVER AND EVER AND EVER AND EVER NEVER AND ENDING. LET ME BE AT THE FEET OF MY SAVOUR THANKING AND LOVING HIM FOR ALL HE DID FOR ME!!!!!!!!

  6. First question- would I be able to take my eyes off of you now ?
Second, thin-as-a-model thinness is a pukable thought. Even the Bible laments tiny breasted women (if you don’t believe me, read Song of Soloman)
Third, are any of us really mortal?

    • Well if you go on superficial beauty, yes you would be able to take your eyes off of me. If you look at my inner beauty you may stare for some time. I wasn’t born thin, and I am not thin today, a few pounds over, and with age comes natural body drooping. We are here on borrowed time. We are here to do God’s work and when we are done he will take us home, so no we are not mortal

  7. I can see anything wrong with wishing for money … and beauty and nothing wrong in having neither of them too – even if we don’t get anything with us … on the the last journey, both makes life a lot easier at times, even if they can create problems too.
Nothing wrong in having money, being thin or beautiful … famous .. so long as it gives us happiness.

    • that’s the whole key, your last sentence, as long as they bring us happiness, but sometimes it can destroy people, not all but some and not you of course, you are sweet no matter what

      • Yes, totally agree that it can destroy people … and it happens too often, but I think being without any money is more destroying.

  8. Terry beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Youa re beautiful as you are. Don’t compare yourself with those slimming stars who have lots of make up on and probably do not look so glamorous in the morning straigh out of bed…. hehe. and at least on us everything is natural!

    • your comment reminded me of a time long ago when I was a guest on the Oprah Show. I had the chance to see her come in first thing in the morning. She was headed to the make-up room. I didn’t even recognize her for a quick second as she looked well, um more like us……..LOL, make up does wonders I see

  9. As long as you have hope, you can live through anything and if you want to destroy a person, just take their hope away from them. Very nice write up Terry!

    • I agree with you. No matter who we are we always have hope for something or someone. Without it we are dead. Thank you for the compliment my friend
