Early bird, or night owl?
My Mom told me one time when I was still living under my parents roof, that one day I would change. I would hate going to bed late and sleeping late.
I never did change but altered some due to age, worries and stress.
I was one who could sleep until noon no matter what time I went to bed when I was in my teens. When I reached my twenties I could not do it any longer. I had a children, but I missed it dearly. When the kiddies would spend the night at Grandma’s house, I slept in. Oh that was so nice.
In my thirties and forties I was going through difficult emotional times with marriages and I was a quick change artist. I could get up if I had to with no problem. But emotions ran high so some days I would seem to sleep forever.
Now in my late fifties, I have had the biggest change. My doctor blames it on being older and stress and worries. I am tired too often. Some days you will knock at my door in the middle of the afternoon and my eyes will be filled with little sleepies where I was napping.
At bedtime I am tired but can not sleep. I will stay up until around 2am watching King of Queens or the Golden Girls. I force myself to lie down and close my eyes, but they pop up often during the night.
When early morning comes and dawn is beginning to break my eyes are once again open and I am ready to get up. I often do this too. I will be up for a couple of hours and then I am ready to take a nap.
It is so silly and yet it seems to happen often. This has been going on pretty much since Al left. I think there are parts of me that not only worry about him but maybe more that I miss him.
When he comes home he and I will have to be up at 6am. He will need to be on the transportation bus by 7:30 and I believe it will take that long to get him around and include breakfast, but I don’t mind. I will adjust and I will have my brother back home with me.

Sleep, we need sleep. Our body needs movement, we have to move. I am sorry to hear about your predicament.
thank you. I am a fighter and I will keep moving forward
Hi Seeker, I have nominated you for the Sunshine Award!
I have become a bad … sleeper too – but it’s because I spend too much time with the blogging and others blogs, fresh air and walking gives a good night sleep. I know that .. so I have to rethink the .. blogging bit.
I understand what you are saying. I made myself leave the computer a little yesterday since it was finally a sunny day. I went out and raked some of the remaining leaves from last fall and got some fresh air. I do admit I slept better
I too have to make myself get outside and move…but, once I do…I just love it…and sleep comes easily…
yes I agree sleep does come easily when we get fresh air. My problem is getting outside as I love to write and chat with WP
me too…my caboose can attest to that!
My sleep habits have changed a lot as I have gotten older and the least little thing can cause sleepless nights.
When is Al coming home?
Yesterday I heard that his budget is finished. Now I have to pick a caseworker, and then she will inspect our home to see if there is any extra adjustments for Al. then he will come home. I am hoping in May he will b here
Sleep is important but what can you do if you can’t sleep , naps are always very useful. I am an early riser and love to be up early, then you can hear the birds singing, and the sun rises, it is a lovely peaceful time. I rather go to bed early too. 🙂
we are opposite, but yet I don’t sleep well at night no matter what time I go to bed. I think getting older plays a big part in this
Ute, I have nominated you for an award called, The Team Member Award!!!
Thank you very much Terry much appreciated. I got a bit confused lately as you have changed your name and I thought it was someone else when I saw it on another blog. It does not take much to confuse me though. I shall check this award out. Thank you , love Ute
I am sorry about the name change. It was done due to some spam and hackers
Terry, have you tried Melatonin? My pastor’s wife gave me a bottle a week or so ago and I take one every night a little while before I go to bed. I think it takes a few nights for it to kick in, but I think it does help some. Also, they recommend not staring at a computer screen or TV for at least an hour before you go to bed. It stimulates the brain too much. I must say I have a hard time following this one as I always want to check those last few e-mails before shutting down. I usually try to read at least a couple of pages of something that is not too stimulating. Sometimes it’s the Chronicles of Narnia, or something else I don’t have to think too hard about. By the way, I love that kitty in the photo!
No I have not tried that. I do know that several doctors and my years of experience shows that the more we age the less sleep we require. Maybe part of it is because we cat nap through the day hours. I don’t know, but I have taken care of so many that sleep better in their recliners than their beds. Aches and pains also cause issues for a good night sleep. I am not that old yet but a few of the symptoms of aging are beginning to show
